The Compass: A Personal Guide for Seeking, Finding, and Following God’s Direction

The CompassEvery sincere Christian desires to know and do the will of God. Author Gary Usery provides in this book four weeks of daily devotional studies aimed at helping readers discover and follow God’s will.

The book is intensely practical and interactive. At the beginning of the study the reader is asked to list specific issues and/or questions for which he or she seeks God’s guidance. The book includes an outline of weekly group meetings with discussion questions by which participants can refine their own thinking and help one another grow in relationship with the Lord.

The Compass points the way to a growing and deepening walk with God, rich in fulfillment in living an obedient life of faith. The four-week series of daily devotionals and weekly group discussions is designed to sharpen and enhance the purpose of readers to walk faithfully in God’s intended direction and to carefully fulfill His purposes in their lives. The author’s purpose is threefold: to strengthen the reader’s relationship with God; to help the reader grow in faith; and to help the reader seek, find, and follow God’s direction. These outcomes will strengthen one’s inner spirit and outer expression of the grace and purposes of God.

The Compass: A Personal Guide for Seeking, Finding and Following God’s
Direction, is well defined by its title. It is, as it purports to be, a
book that requires something of the reader–thought and soul searching. The
reader is left to define his/her own context for the message of the book; as such, it
is relevant for anyone in his or her spiritual quest.
The book, being a four-week, twenty-eight-day journey, would be an ideal
read for use by an individual or as a small group guide during the month of
February, or at any other appropriate time of the reader’s choosing.
This reviewer knows something of the genesis of the book and how it came
to be. He also knows the Christ-like life of the author and knows that the book
reflects something of his personal journey.
